September update

Share Button

I spend much time on the road last month. sorry to all the people, stores and studios how wait for me…

here are some News:

Gustav is alive!

The Gustav 2 is named after the famous swedish King Gustav II (also known as Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden).Dead in the battle of Lützen (1932) one of the final Battle of the thirty years war  how killed about two third of the population in Nether Bavaria were I am from. Anyway…

I am very proud of my developement, this time no one asked me my if it could look like a Fender, Ampeg, whatever. I made my own Shape for the perfect amp, the amp looks like a 50′ Geiger Counter, weights about 8kg and put’s out 400 Watts (“fucking to loud” like some people said). You can’t even take the subway without people asking what it is.

100% assembled in France, about 90% of the electronics are from europe (Power block: Netherlands, Transfomers: Germany, metalwork: Rouen, Tube: Slovak Republic…).

Only on command, Créme or Black finish.

Other stuff I repaired:

NEVE 4081, Apogee, Lexicon, Marshall JCM2000, some Fender/Vox and other stuff… live goes on…

Summer 2012 Update

Share Button

Is it a Speaker? Is it a megaphone?

NO!!!

It’s a Bird Nest for Simon Ripoll-Hurier. I don’t do any art for people now, but hey, he’s a friend, and I like crazy stuff…

The Twin Amps:

I found a begin 70ties turntable in a yard sale and I liked the style. Thus there where no obscure tubes inside, but two 5W amps, only germanium transistors…. Stereo oh my god, lets make some batterie amps…

They were used by the agamemnonz on their Summer Tour… The sound goes from clean to crunch to über fuzz, but the tone control is rather useless.

Gustav is comming:

Here you have some gutshots from my bass amp. 400W RMS hybrid style, me to I can do what orange, ampeg, markbass do now. But my amps last longer!

Preamp:

Overall view on the chassis (please don’t look at the mess behind):

Detail in the pilot Light, White = Normal, Red = Bass Boost activated

More pics tomorrow…

Boss OC-2 Super Nintendo Mod

Share Button

About a year ago I saw the first time the Boss OC-2 Nintendo mod on Youtube. Since I was looking for a cheap OC-2 and one week ago I finally found one for quite nothing on a flea market.

First I had to mention that that the schematic in the video doesn’t correspond with my OC-2 which is the Japanese Version. Even if the error is minimal, here is the correct schematic and layout:

First I tried the mod like mentioned in the video with one switch for the two sub-octaver (OCT1 and OCT2), but it was little to harsh for me, especialy OCT2. So I installed a second switch, now I can activate the mod for each octave. The main reason why I recommend to try this is the OCT 2 which is hard to exploit due to the gliches. So we smooth out the signal via the envelope and filter circuit and we get the little extra thickness without heavy gliches. Please watch the youtube video for D.I.Y. or send me a mail me if you want me do that for you.

Mobile mixer for TV and Radio

Cute little mixer from Schlumberger, a paris based constructor, dissapeared in the 80′ i think. This little monster makes me feel like i got a Studer in my bag, i will try it with a Apogee One soundcard and iPad next week. Works with wallwart power supply or 8 batteries ( the big ones ).

Family Affairs:

Fender QuadReverb 1978, Fender ProReverb 1980, Mitchell Amplification Pro100 about 1982

Ducretet-Thompson L934 RadioAmp

Share Button

This is the last so called RadioAmp I restored. As I bought the radio in it didn’t power up. All condensators and the blown power tube where changed. Sad to say that the Radio won’t receive any radio anymore, but the power amp worked fine. It has a good drive and tone controle, I did a mod with the EM84 magic Eye Tube, now it works as VU Meter. For easy use on bigger concerts I also added a Line Out with volume control.

Price :165€

SOLD!

Magnetic Shit Wah

Share Button

The Magnetic Shit Wah is based on the very popular Atari Punk Console Schematic. The Pedal is used much like an optic Wah, but it doesn’t filter your tone, in fact it uses the light sensor to control the LFO Frequency and your guitars Volume Pot to control the envelope Frequency. This means that playing the guitar will not generate any tone, all you had do is turning the Volume and hide the Light sensor making fancy Square wave Sounds. This Pedal works only with passive instruments!

The Pedal has two Switches for different Frequencies on LFO and Envelope, Volume Control and is powered by any Boss-style 9V Power Supply. It features a USB plug on the back for USB Light if you play in dark places, but you can also charge any device via USB (tested with iPhone, Android Mobiles and GPS).

Here is a small video I made with the prototype:

Dildo playing Melody…

Share Button

A Friend found a broken Dildo in the streets some time ago and I had the Idea that it would be much funnier if a Dildo plays a melody with his motor. After some work I managed to get it working on batteries with the original power control. I look forward to make other melodies and I will try to sell them as “best birthday (or wedding, Xmas…) card” in the world. I already made the wedding march and I will do other popular melody’s.

Turn up the volume, since the speaker is the motor you actually feel more the melody than you hear it.
